General Manager of Canaport LNG
Javier Azagra is Canaport LNG’s General Manager. Joining the Canaport LNG team in 2016, Javier’s vast management experience within industrial facilities has prepared him well for his role at the terminal.
Beginning his career as a Process Engineer at Repsol’s Tarragona Refinery in 1996, Javier quickly moved into Operations as a Plant Engineer. Focused on implementing and improving the refinery’s high performance and safety standards, Javier served in various management roles before becoming the Operations Director at Repsol’s A Coruña Refinery. After four years in that role, he moved on to lead Repsol’s Cartagena Refinery as its Engineering and Development Director.
Javier received a Bachelor of Arts in Chemical Engineering from the University of Oviedo, Spain in 1993, and then went on to complete a Master of Science in Forest Resources, Pulp & Paper Science at the University of Washington in Seattle in 1995.
President, Repsol Energy North America Corporation & Repsol Energy Canada Ltd.
Laura Rejon is Director of Repsol’s North America Gas & Power Division, and President of Repsol Energy North America Corporation (RENA) and Repsol Energy Canada Ltd. (REC). In this role, she leads Repsol’s LNG, natural gas and electric power commercialization business in North America.
In her 20+ years’ experience in the energy industry, Laura has served in a variety of roles including Finance, Internal Audit, Credit Risk and Investor Relations. She previously led Repsol’s Credit Risk Division with more than 1 million counterparties, and held the position of CFO for Dynasol, a joint venture between Repsol’s Chemical Business and Grupo Kuo in Mexico.
Laura earned a Master’s in Business Administration from Alcala de Henares University in Spain and a Master’s in International Business from Copenhagen Business School in Denmark.
Vice President of Portfolio Management & Structuring, Repsol Energy North America
Chris David oversees several functions within Repsol Energy North America (RENA) including, Portfolio Management, Structuring, Regulatory Affairs, and the commercial optimization of the company’s North American LNG assets. In addition to these responsibilities, Chris is leading RENA’s Digital Transformation initiative.
In his 18+ years of experience, he has built a deep understanding of the natural gas, LNG and power markets. Prior to joining Repsol, Chris was a Director in PwC’s Advisory Energy practice. While at PwC he worked with several energy trading organizations, including hedge funds, global banks, wholesale energy merchants, utilities, and global oil and gas firms. Chris received a BA in finance from the University of Texas at Austin.
Andy Carson is Director, Growth & Strategy at Irving Oil, based in Saint John, NB. In this role, he focuses on strategic planning, joint venture management, growth opportunities, and external relations.
He joined the company in 2008 and has previously worked as legal counsel, in corporate communications, and in various business development roles. Andy was born and raised in Saint John, NB. He attended Mount Allison University before pursuing his law degree at Dalhousie University. He then received his MBA jointly from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and Schulich School of Business at York University.
Repsol Gas & Trading North America – Origination division
A 20-year veteran of the energy industry, focusing primarily in trading and origination, Karen Iampen leads Repsol’s Gas & Trading North America – Origination division in Houston, Texas.
Karen previously served as New England Originator for Repsol. She joined Repsol Gas and Power in 2009, just prior to the commissioning of the Canaport LNG facility, beginning her career at the company as an Origination and Regulatory Affairs Manager, focusing on the New England and Eastern Canadian regions. Prior to joining the Repsol Gas and Power team, Karen was the Manager of Logistics at Emera Energy Services, and was involved in the setup and growth of trading operations there from 2002 to 2009.
Karen has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
